SDG 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions

The Sustainable Development Goals aim to reduce all forms of inequality and discrimination; working with governments and communities to find solutions to conflict and insecurity.

Benha University identifies corruption risks by developing the structure of the administrative apparatus. Benha University also works on activating the administrative quality system. The purpose of all this is to develop an effective administrative apparatus in line with the national strategy to combat corruption.

Members of Benha University receive high quality services. This development has been demonstrated through the activation of transparency and integrity mechanisms in the units within the university. In addition to the above, the university has activated the government complaints system. Benha University has also worked on updating judicial procedures.

Benha University has held student seminars to raise awareness of the dangers of corruption and its impact on society. Benha University has also held training courses for faculty members on integrity, transparency and combating corruption.

Benha University emphasized the role of student unions within the various faculties of the university. Benha University also provided skills development services in the fields of economics, law, technology and climate change. Benha University also provided platforms on various social media for dialogue and exchange of ideas.

Benha University seeks to promote the rule of law, human rights, peace and justice. Benha University also aims to reject violence and establish the rules of security. Benha University also seeks to eliminate all forms of discrimination, which represents a basic human right. Eliminating all forms of discrimination is a crucial factor in accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Peace and justice are achieved through the following procdeures:

  1. Integrity and Transparency Unit at Benha University.
  2. Allocating a number on the “WhatsApp” application to communicate with employees of Benha University and receive their suggestions.
  3. Unified governmental complaints system at Benha University.
  4. Jobs within the university are advertised on the university’s website, and a committee is formed to evaluate applicants in an unbiased manner.
  5. The Student Union is elected in a fair manner and under the supervision of a committee of university faculty members.
  6. Equality in assuming leadership positions at the university, including academic and administrative positions.
  7. Unit for Combating Violence against Women at Benha University.
  8. Participation in presidential initiatives to promote a just life. These initiatives include Egyptian Informal Workers Initiative, The Poorest Villages Initiative, and Decent Life Initiative.
  9. Cooperation with all governmental institutions in Qalyubia Governorate.
  10. Teaching human rights course to students in the different university colleges.
  11. Convoys carried out by the university to raise awareness among the people of villages in Qalyubia Governorate.
  12. Quality Assurance Unit at the University.
  13. Department of Legal Affairs at the University.
  14. Financial and Administrative Affairs Department at the University.
  15. National Committee for Governance and Sustainable Development (Benha University is an executive member).
