University's policy in promoting energy efficiency:
Benha University aims to enhance the efficiency of energy consumption in the mechanical and electrical systems applied in new buildings, and to ensure that these systems are suitable for the requirements for which they are intended. Moreover, the university adopts a policy of smart, green, environmentally friendly buildings. Therefore, it aims to protect the environment from the use of unclean energy by maximizing the use of new and renewable energies of various types. There are 3 mandatory conditions and 10 basic requirements for energy efficiency.

Source (National Center for Housing and Building Research 2019) Benha University also gives greater attention to the issue of energy conservation and its role in reducing fuel consumption. This represents the essence of the idea of sustainability, which calls for preserving the right of future generations in using resources. However, the requirements for rationalizing energy consumption and useing new and renewable energy systems are rated out of 4 points, which is one of the highest points in energy efficiency requirements. The essence of the idea of green architecture is based on the building conserving energy and relying on renewable and clean energies.
It is achieved through:
- Engineering administration at Benha University
- The Administrative Quality unit at Benha University and the university’s spaces and places committee
- Research projects funded by the university in the faculties of engineering in Benha, engineering in Shubra, and agriculture in Mashtohour, which aim to produce renewable and sustainable energy.
- New programs for students in university colleges that are concerned with issues of renewable energy and resource management.
- The National Committee for Sustainable Development and Governance (Benha University is an executive member).
